The Hebron Alden Greenwood Fire Protection District has been in existence in various forms since 1900. The district boundaries as they are today were established with the merger of the Hebron Fire Protection District and the Alden Fire Department. In 2002 the district assumed the duties of providing emergency medical services by merging with the Hebron Rescue Squad.
The District as it is today provides services to approximately 53 square miles of Northern McHenry County. Our district includes all of Hebron Township, 1/2 of Alden Township, 5 square miles of Greenwood Township as well as 1 square mile of Hartland Township.
Within those 53 square miles we provide a multitude of services including, Fire Suppression, Vehicle Extrication, Technical Rescue as well as providing Emergency Medical Services at the Advanced Life Support Level. To provide these service we operate 10 apparatus out of our station located at 12302 IL Route 173 in Hebron. This station houses are administrative offices, training areas as well as areas for our station staffing.
Hebron Fire responded to a barn fire around 445am on Friday January 26th. Crews arrived to find a barn heavily involved in fire with exposure to a 10000 gallon propane tank. Initial crews began the attack by deck gunning the fire until aid companies arrived to assist in the operations. The fire was extinguished by 6am. Crews were on scene checking for hotspots and investigating until 11am. We would like to thank our auto and mutual aid partners for their assistance with this fire.
Please see attached press release.
Last Night (10/10/2023), the Board of Trustees approved a construction contract with Wm. Tonyan & Sons Inc for the construction of a new administrative addition to our Fire Station. This has been a more than 2 year process of design with multiple cost saving changes and two bid processes.
This new addition will allow our ever expanding operations to grow into this building for the next 50 years.
Stay tuned for groundbreaking and construction photos
